Both men are tag team champions, and the storyline going into it is that Eddie wants to know if he can get back at the level he was as a singles wrestler. Goes for another seated senton, and Eddie catches him and a huge power bomb, kick out at 2 by Rey, elbow by Mysterio, another power bomb attempt, but Mysterio reverses it with a hurricanrana and the pin, 1..2..3!!! Winner at 12:39 Rey Mysterio. Great opener to Wrestlemania 21. Great energy, some good chain wrestling and some nice reversals. Eddie was so over at this point, that I think he only lost for storyline purposes, and really push some possible tension with Rey. ***1/2

-In the back we see JBL walking with Orlando Jordan and the cabinet. They run into HHH and Flair. A little confrontation between them. They talk about seeing who the champ is at the end of the night. Flair with a big WOOOO!!! Quick little segment between the 2 heel champs.

He really grew into the character and made a huge impact. Overall, this match was a big spot fest. There isn’t much psychology in these matches, although Benoit really sold that arm injury well. These guys went out to steal the show, and they put on a pretty damn good match. ***3/4.

-Video package of the Undertaker and Randy Orton feud. WWE really makes great video packages.

Undertaker vs. Randy Orton
Undertaker makes his way out to the ring with the usual set up of druids with torches surrounding the ring. It looks like he’s on something that’s rolling him down to the ring, but you can’t see his feet. He has probably the greatest entrance of all time. Randy Orton is out next. Taker sits up again, and starts punching Orton again. Taker thrown into the ropes then hits a big boot on Bob Orton who’s standing on the apron. Orton motions for a tombstone, but Undertaker reverses it and gives Orton the Tombstone and gets the 3 count for the win!! Winner at 14:14 the Undertaker. This was a great match between these two. This pushes the Taker to 13-0 at Wrestlemania. It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Taker is going to win at Wrestlemania every year, but they have been doing a good job of giving him formidable opponents lately. Great match though, with a lot of action, and not many rest holds. ***3/4.

-Video package shown highlighting the feud between Trish Stratus and Christy Hemme. They included Lita into the feud to help Hemme, but I think everyone believes that Hemme doesn’t have a chance. And my god is Trish the hottest Diva that has ever been in the WWE?

A roll up sequence, but Trish gets out of it and hits the Chick Kick to get the victory. Winner at 4:11 Trish Stratus. Not really a good match. It seemed like they wanted to get the attention to Lita and Trish, not Trish and Christy. What can you expect though, Hemme was just featured in Playboy and they wanted to give her a chance. She was just not very good. *1/2

These two really went out there and put on a show! It started off being technical, then moved to some more brawling type aspects and just really took off. There was no bad part to this match. They would have another classic a few months later at Vengeance. Wow. ****1/2

The match was pretty good, but the next 2 were even better with the Hell in a Cell being their best match. Still a damn fine match though. ***3/4

Final Thoughts
This was a pretty solid Wrestlemania. Rey vs. Eddie delivered, Undertaker vs. Orton was good, and in my opinion, HBK vs. Kurt Angle was the match of the night. The JBL vs. Cena match wasn’t great, but it had emotion in it, so that was fine with me. HHH vs. Batista was a good match and I had no problem with that closing the show. All in all I would give this PPV a B+ and you should definitely watch it if you haven’t seen it already.
